Jenny SwainAfter graduating from Oklahoma State University, I spent more than 15 years building a career in the business world as a financial consultant for some of Dallas’ top, growing corporations. Seven years ago, I got a crazy hair to add the purchase of a My Gym Children’s Fitness Center franchise to my finance career, and I still own this business today. Along the way, I married my college love, finished an MBA at Southern Methodist University and gave life to two amazing little people. So far, life has been a crazy, fun ride!

I didn’t have much of an off-switch back then, so I was burning the candle at both ends to fit in all that life required of me. Eventually the early mornings, late nights, constant parade of take-out, fast food and boxed meals and the hectic lifestyle caught up with me. Despite my best efforts to make healthy eating choices and work out several times per week, I always felt exhausted, unsettled and puffy.

When I decided that a plant-based food diet could be the answer, it went downhill from there. I dealt with digestive issues and a string of visits to specialists for seemingly unrelated symptoms, from skin rashes to depression to chronic sinus infections. Each time, I was told my lab work looked great and my health was fabulous. No real answers.

Through an act of serendipity in a business meeting, my advertising representative mentioned a holistic doctor who was helping her with health. That very day, I scheduled an appointment, and my life has never been the same. With his counsel and through my own research and curiosity, I began to connect the dots between my eating habits, my lifestyle choices, and the way I was feeling.

I became addicted. My quest for information and passion for whole food nutrition was insatiable. It permeated every aspect of my life, and it colored the lens through which I viewed the world. Suddenly the need to beat myself up for professional business achievements was replaced with a desire to help others feel as vibrant and healthy as I did. So, I took the plunge and enrolled in the Nutritional Therapy Association, where I became a certified Nutritional Therapy Practitioner. Drawing on my own experience, nutrition education and excitement for the joys of cooking and eating, I’m here to guide and support you to live the healthy life you want.
